Join a growing biopharmaceutical organisation in Cambridge, UK, to support the discovery of novel small-molecule medicines. This laboratory-based role, working five days per week on a 12-month contract, is an excellent opportunity for early-career synthetic chemists, organic chemists, or chemistry graduates to gain valuable industry experience. Previous medicinal chemistry experience is not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Synthesise and purify small-molecule compounds on milligram-to-gram scale
- Support synthetic route design and optimisation
- Utilise organic synthesis, chromatography, and preparative HPLC techniques
- Analyse and interpret NMR, LC-MS, and HPLC data
- Troubleshoot synthetic, purification, and analytical challenges
- Maintain accurate experimental records
- Present results and collaborate with multidisciplinary scientists
- Support safe and effective laboratory operations
Essential Requirements
- BSc or MSc in chemistry, organic chemistry, synthetic chemistry, or a related discipline
- Practical synthetic chemistry experience gained through employment, an industrial placement, internship, or academic research project
- Knowledge of organic synthesis and compound purification
- Familiarity with NMR, LC-MS, HPLC, or chromatography
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills
