Position Overview

An exciting opportunity is available with a leading organization in Zurich, involving a vital Mainframe to Linux migration initiative. This pivotal role is situated at the interface of business and technology, facilitating collaboration among international, cross-functional teams and engaging with senior stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes and enduring organizational transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Test Concept Definition:
- Develop and document a comprehensive testing strategy tailored to the migration from mainframe assembler applications to a Java/SQL environment under Linux.
- Identify and incorporate various testing methodologies, including unit, functional, and comparison testing, into the testing framework.
- Define and integrate appropriate testing tools, such as X-Ray.
Test Execution Orchestration:
- Coordinate and oversee testing activities, ensuring compliance with timelines and quality benchmarks.
- Support the test execution across multiple phases, including planning, environmental setup, execution, and reporting.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary liaison among project stakeholders, including architects, developers, and management teams.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration to ensure alignment on testing objectives and deliverables.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a small testing team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Assess resource needs and assist in the recruitment and training of team members as project demands evolve.
Quality Assurance Oversight:
- Monitor and report on testing progress, defects, and overall quality metrics to stakeholders.
- Implement process improvements to boost testing efficiency and effectiveness.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create comprehensive test documentation, including plans, cases, and reports.
- Provide regular updates and status reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Over 15 years of experience in complex projects in a test management role.
Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, particularly unit and functional testing.
Proven track record in delivering testing workstreams for complex migration projects, ideally involving Mainframe modernization or Mainframe-to-Linux transitions.
Expertise in defining and executing comprehensive end-to-end test strategies, including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and non-functional testing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with all project stakeholders.
Experience in Agile methodologies.
Language proficiency in English; knowledge of German or Spanish is a plus.
