Position Overview
This role serves as the primary leader and the main point of contact within the footwear development process, focusing on the critical bottom unit segment. You will engage closely with designers, developers, and our outsourcing hub in Asia to ensure a seamless transition from concept creation to prototyping and production. Collaboration with Innovation and Sport engineering teams will also be a vital part of your responsibilities, as you work to validate and introduce high-performance products and technologies to the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical design constraints and solutions, material choices, and product construction insights based on your extensive knowledge of materials, mold construction, and manufacturing methods.
- Lead the bottom unit for products across various verticals and projects, including both Inline and Innovation initiatives.
- Analyze and enhance product designs for manufacturability and durability, offering solutions that meet quality and performance targets, supported by your skills in 2D-3D modeling.
- Utilize your understanding of cost implications related to individual molding methods and current tooling designs to make informed recommendations.
- Assist development product management and design teams with any tooling-related inquiries, while collaborating with Asian counterparts and supporting moldshop teams.
Qualifications
- A higher education degree in Engineering or Design fields.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering role closely interfacing with development and production, preferably within the footwear industry.
- Proficiency in working with 2D and 3D CAD files (experience with Rhinoceros is ideal); experience in simulation (FEA) is a plus.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to navigate multiple deadlines effectively.
- Technical expertise in materials, manufacturing, and plastic molding, with a strong familiarity with the footwear sector.
- Proven project management skills, with experience in costing, quality assurance, and the ability to provide solutions within complex constraints.
- Fluency in English.
