Position Overview
Located in Basel, Switzerland, this position is part of the Global Technical R&D department within Global Drug Development. The Chemical & Analytical Development (CHAD) team plays an essential role in advancing processes for the manufacturing and analysis of Antibody-Oligonucleotide Conjugates (AOCs).
Main Responsibilities
- Utilize your expertise in chemical synthesis and process development to establish innovative chemistry and manufacturing pathways for AOCs and other complex constructs.
- Contribute significantly to Novartis BD&L activities by providing support and facilitating knowledge transfer in bioconjugation chemistry and manufacturing processes.
- Design, execute experiments in the lab, and interpret and report on the resulting data.
- Coordinate the timely availability and transfer of manufacturing instructions to the pilot plant within CHAD or Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure the timely and quality delivery of new nucleotide drugs.
- Provide essential process documentation in support of dossier filings.
- Engage in scientific exchange groups within Novartis and academia, fostering excellent collaboration with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Educational Background
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD and PostDoc in organic chemistry, with a focus on bio-conjugation or the chemical modification of fermentation products.
Professional Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge in chemical bioconjugation or related complex molecular structures, such as Antibody-Drug Conjugates, is essential.
- 2-5 years of experience in synthesis or chemical process development is strongly preferred, with piloting experience under GMP considered advantageous.
- Possess an independent, self-motivated work style, complemented by strong team collaboration and communication skills.
- Familiarity with software tools, including the Office package and Design of Experiments (DoE) tools, is desirable.
Language Proficiency
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required, while knowledge of German and additional languages is a plus.
