Role Overview
This position involves supporting the business in drafting business and functional requirements for software engineering and third-party system providers. You will be actively involved in a significant project aimed at replacing the current in-house Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system, while contributing to vital testing and quality assurance processes.
Key Activities
- Business Analysis & Solutions Design:
- Act as the primary interface between the business and technical teams, ensuring an understanding of business objectives and proactively proposing valuable solutions.
- Configure the system via the graphical user interface to prepare for business needs (setup, workflow, templates, pricing, etc.).
- Collaborate with the business to define and validate business and functional requirements, ensuring alignment with the systems landscape and Trading IT strategy.
- Work collaboratively with technical teams, including software and application engineers, on solution design and delivery.
- Engage with vendor teams for external core development tasks.
- Prepare and execute test plans, verifying compliance with specifications and IT control frameworks.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and other IT resources within the Trading IT organization, especially during migration processes.
- Utilize your expertise to suggest improvements in business processes, demonstrating autonomy and rigor in execution.
- Service Delivery & Support:
- Prepare project plans and contribute to change initiatives within a team setting.
- Liaise with business units regarding service delivery and advocate for IT solutions.
- Manage a backlog of change requirements and support their timely delivery.
- Provide user support and assist in resolving incidents and problems.
Context and Environment
TotalEnergies Gas & Power Trading (TGP) is rapidly evolving to support the company's transition to power, which includes the acquisition of renewable energy assets and a focus on automation. The Power Trading System team will facilitate all Power-related functions, ensuring high system availability for trade capture, market data, risk and P&L computation, settlement, regulatory compliance, confirmation, invoicing, accounting, and treasury functions. This transition involves modernizing the current ETRM to a more versatile cross-asset platform.
Accountabilities
Act as a liaison between business users and software engineering teams or third-party providers, define requirements, and contribute to delivering solutions alongside business stakeholders. Ensure delivery quality meets business expectations and provide ongoing support through documentation, training, and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a utility or commodity trading environment, preferably with knowledge of energy markets.
- Familiarity with ETRM solutions such as Orchestrade, Calypso, Murex, or Endur is advantageous.
- Strong interest in IT and technology, along with experience in software engineering and application management.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Project Management, DevOps, Agile delivery methodologies, and requirements engineering experience are desirable.
- Knowledge of front-to-back risk system flows and trade lifecycles, including a solid understanding of physical and derivatives instruments and their associated risks and P&L measures.
- Understanding back-office and finance processes would be a plus.
- Degree in IT, technology, or engineering disciplines is required.
- Fluency in English and French is mandatory.
