Responsibilities
As a member of our interdisciplinary and international team, you will engage in multiple ion-trapping projects that operate at both room and cryogenic temperatures, covering applications from scalable quantum computing to quantum sensing.
- Contribute to the primary research program while developing an independent research line.
- Supervise PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, coordinating the work of technical staff.
- Participate in collaborative and cross-disciplinary projects within the group and the institute.
- Develop and lead competitive grant proposals for independent and joint research activities.
Qualifications
- PhD in physics, preferably with a focus on ion trap quantum computation or a closely related field.
- Several years of postdoctoral research experience demonstrating increasing scientific independence.
- An excellent publication record in quantum science and technology.
- Expertise in the design, implementation, and operation of quantum science experiments.
- Strong knowledge of experimental quantum physics techniques.
- Experience with optical systems including lasers, detectors, fiber optics, and associated electronics is advantageous.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
- A proven track record or potential for acquiring competitive research funding.
