Located in Chesières (Vaud, Switzerland), Aiglon College is a not-for-profit, international boarding school offering a distinctive, world-class education in a stunning alpine setting. Founded on the ethos of the balanced development of mind, body, and spirit, this philosophy underpins everything we do, both inside and outside the classroom. With over 480 students representing more than 70 nationalities, we provide a vibrant environment where enthusiasm, experience, and a commitment to making a positive impact are highly valued.

Your Role

You will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to students, staff, and visitors in accordance with Swiss nursing standards, Croix-Rouge protocols, and NMC guidance. Your primary objective is to promote the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of all students while ensuring that safeguarding and child protection principles are embedded in all aspects of practice. You will report to the Associate Director of Nursing and the Associate Director of Health Care Services, working closely with the School Director, Deputy School Directors, Bursar, House staff, Teaching staff, and Sports and Expeditions departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Professional Conduct: Adhere to Swiss nursing regulations and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. Maintain strict confidentiality following Swiss data protection and child protection legislation. Actively promote the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Nursing Care: Organize nurse clinics, assess injuries and illnesses, create care plans, and administer medications according to prescriptions and Swiss legal requirements. Apply Gillick competence when assessing students’ capacity to consent. Deliver first aid and emergency care, manage medical supplies, and record all interventions accurately in the real-time database.
  • Health Education: Promote health education across the school following Croix-Rouge and Swiss health promotion standards. Support wellbeing and pastoral initiatives in collaboration with teaching and pastoral teams.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate, confidential medical records and manage general Health Centre administrative duties. Complete medico-legal accident and incident reports for insurance claims and assist with ordering and accounting for medical supplies.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain awareness of health and safety issues affecting the school environment. Contribute to health-related risk assessments for trips, events, and activities, ensuring all protocols are followed within the Health Centre.
  • Liaison and Collaboration: Work closely with the Health Centre team, house staff, pastoral care, academic staff, and parents. Liaise with external medical professionals for treatment coordination and participate in multidisciplinary meetings concerning student welfare.
  • Safeguarding: Promote a culture of vigilance and care, ensuring safeguarding is central to all nursing practices. Maintain professional boundaries and act promptly if concerned about a student’s welfare, ensuring all concerns are accurately recorded and reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
