The Universal Rights Group (URG) is a dedicated civil society organisation engaged with the UN human rights system to enhance the enjoyment and protection of human rights worldwide. We invite skilled individuals to contribute their expertise in a compelling research environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Executive Director and Analysts in conducting in-depth research on critical human rights issues, including thematic areas such as digital technology and human rights, as well as institutional subjects like UN Human Rights Council reform and national implementation mechanisms.
• Assist in drafting comprehensive reports that reflect findings and analyses.
• Facilitate the organisation of policy dialogues and various events hosted by URG.

Location

This position will be based at URG's headquarters in Geneva.

Qualifications and Skills

• A Master's degree in international relations, human rights, or a related discipline.
• Exceptional written communication skills, particularly in English and French.
• Fluency in English and French, with a good working knowledge of Chinese/Mandarin.
• Thorough understanding of the UN human rights system, including the Human Rights Council, Universal Periodic Review (UPR), Treaty Bodies, and Special Procedures.
• A minimum of one year of experience working in international Geneva on human rights issues.
• At least six months of experience supporting climate-related research at the intersection of development, human rights, and climate change, preferably in a Least Developed Country vulnerable to climate change.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in event organisation, including high-level engagements.
