Project Overview
The Proteomics Unit at FGCZ plays a crucial role in supporting both internal and external research initiatives. The unit provides comprehensive services—ranging from experimental design to data analysis—focused on identifying, characterizing, and quantifying proteins from various biological samples utilizing advanced liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) techniques, in collaboration with a dedicated Bioinformatics team.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with an international team of experts within the FGCZ proteomics core facility.
- Assist in sample preparation and data acquisition across various mass spectrometry-based proteomics workflows.
- Execute routine sample preparation methods, including in-gel, on-beads, and in-solution digestion, along with peptide desalting.
- Evaluate and interpret quality control features during and after data acquisition, engaging in basic data analysis workflows.
- Maintain various LC-MS instrument platforms while supporting the operational aspects of the proteomics laboratories.
- This is a two-year contract with the potential for further opportunities.
Candidate Profile
- Completed training as a chemistry or biology laboratory technician, or possess a bachelor's degree in analytical chemistry, biology, or a related field.
- Wet laboratory experience in biochemistry and/or analytical chemistry is essential.
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS and/or other protein analysis techniques is preferable.
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability to diverse analytical protocols in a dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail and strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of German is advantageous.
- A collaborative spirit with a passion for learning and contributing to advancements in proteomics and protein analysis.
