About the Company
ANAVIA specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) systems with a capacity of up to 500 kilograms. The company is a leader in providing unmanned helicopter systems tailored for various mission profiles, including Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Inspection, Mapping, and Cargo.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with 3 years of industry experience. A Doctoral degree may be considered equivalent to industry experience.
- Experience: Over 8 years of systems engineering development experience with at least 5 years focusing on propulsion system design, integration, and testing, preferably with gas or heavy fuel engines. Experience in maritime operations and technical leadership in UAV/aerospace projects is advantageous.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of power and propulsion system components, such as fuel systems and ground equipment.
- Experience in managing vendor partnerships and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong project management abilities, familiar with Agile, SCRUM, or similar methodologies.
- Knowledge of aerospace environmental testing standards like DO-160 and MIL-STD-461.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with strong analytical abilities and technical understanding.
- Language: Proficiency in English (oral and written), with German as a desirable additional language.
- Passport: Candidates must be Swiss or EU Nationals.
Key Tasks
- Propulsion System Leadership: Serve as the technical authority for propulsion systems, defining system requirements and ensuring effective engine integration and verification methods. Support vendor collaboration to resolve performance issues and enhance design.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate with aerodynamics, structural, and avionics teams to optimize engine integration while factoring in variables such as endurance, payload capacity, and environmental conditions.
- Testing & Validation: Lead testing campaigns to validate engine performance, develop test plans, and analyze results to refine system parameters.
- Vendor & Customer Management: Act as the primary technical liaison between teams and propulsion vendors, conduct risk assessments, and ensure project timelines are met while assisting customers in clarifying requirements.
- Lifecycle Support: Establish maintenance protocols and perform failure-mode analyses for propulsion systems, providing support to field operations for diagnosing engine-related challenges.
- Documentation and Compliance: Create comprehensive engineering documentation and ensure that all designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with advancements in mechanical engineering and UAV technology to integrate best practices into existing processes.
