Join an Innovative Team Committed to Positive Change

We are seeking a dedicated and creative individual who is eager to contribute to a Christian value-based organization. This role offers an opportunity to engage deeply with development and cooperation programmes aimed at supporting vulnerable populations.

About Us

The International Blue Cross (IBC) is a politically and denominationally independent non-governmental umbrella organization. We unite 37 national Christian organizations across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America, working tirelessly with the most excluded and vulnerable people globally. Our specialization lies in addressing issues related to alcohol and other drug dependence through various prevention, treatment, and aftercare initiatives. In addition to implementing international cooperation programmes, we are actively involved in alcohol policy advocacy and hold consultative status at the UN ECOSOC.

Your Responsibilities

Based in Bern, your role will encompass:

  • Collaborating with other IBC Programme Officers to manage international development and cooperation programmes focused on alcohol and other drug prevention, as well as vocational skills interventions for youth in French-speaking Africa.
  • Establishing and maintaining planning and evaluation structures and tools within the Project Cycle Management (PCM) framework.
  • Analyzing country reports and preparing high-quality reports for donors in a timely manner.
  • Producing summaries, annual reports, and communication materials in French and English.
  • Coaching local project partners and strengthening their capacity.
  • Identifying and mitigating programme risks.
  • Maintaining effective relationships with institutional donors and ensuring compliance with their reporting requirements.
  • Supporting the General Secretary in member support efforts and the Moodle Academy.
  • Assisting the Finance Officer with basic financial administration tasks.
  • Contributing programme insights to fundraising proposals and communication efforts.
  • Carrying out additional tasks as needed for the efficient operation of IBC.

What You Bring

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in development cooperation, preferably with grassroots organizations; experience in Sub-Sahara Africa is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of results-based management and Project Cycle Management.
  • Proficient coaching skills and ability to aggregate data effectively.
  • Full professional proficiency in French and English; German is advantageous.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
  • Dedication to working in a Christian value-based environment focused on alcohol and drug prevention.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, solution-focused, and capable of working independently in a multicultural setting.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
  • A valid Swiss work permit.

What We Offer

  • A diverse and engaging role in an international setting with ample opportunities for initiative.
  • A motivated and committed team.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Fair and competitive remuneration.

Please note that this role is subject to ongoing project funding. The initial contract will last 24 months, with the possibility of extension if funding allows.
