ETH for Development (ETH4D) is a comprehensive initiative at ETH Zurich that focuses on developing innovative solutions to global challenges while nurturing future leaders in sustainable development.

Overview of the Role

We are seeking a Programme Manager to spearhead the establishment and management of a new research programme focused on enhancing research-based innovations for global urban development and sustainable infrastructure systems. This role will foster collaborations among researchers from various disciplines within the ETH domain and engage with international partners from policy, practice, and industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish the programme’s application and selection process.
• Develop and implement communication and outreach strategies.
• Prepare communication materials for various initiatives.
• Organize events to promote the programme and its objectives.
• Manage the call for proposals and facilitate stakeholder communications.
• Support matchmaking and collaboration between researchers and practice partners.
• Oversee the review and selection process for proposals.
• Handle donor reporting and financial tracking.
• Coordinate with other research and teaching programmes/staff within ETH4D.

Duration and Qualifications

This position is initially limited to a duration of one year.

Must-have Qualifications:

• Ph.D in engineering, natural sciences, or social sciences.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Capacity to coordinate multiple stakeholders across academia and practice.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in transdisciplinary research collaborations.

Nice-to-have Qualifications:

• Experience with ETH Zurich or similar academic environments.
• Proficiency in the German language.
• Experience managing research programmes.
• Background in working with international stakeholders.
• Experience in communication strategies.
