Position Overview

Engage in pioneering research focused on the electrochemical oxidation processes (EOP) designed for the effective removal of emerging contaminants from water, leveraging the generation of hydroxyl radicals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate mechanisms involved in electrochemical oxidation for contaminant removal.
  • Analyze reaction intermediates and products utilizing a variety of analytical chemistry techniques.
  • Employ advanced characterization methods, including synchrotron-based techniques, to study materials under operational conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in the Electrochemistry Department, the Swiss Light Source, and international partners.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Strong background in electrochemistry and experience in water purification through electrochemical oxidation processes.
  • Required experience with analytical techniques for water purification analysis.
  • Familiarity with spectroscopic techniques is advantageous.
  • Genuine interest in experimental work and initiative in developing innovative solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative and interdisciplinary research team.
  • Excellent communication and scientific writing skills in English.

Contract Details

The employment contract is initially limited to 2 years, with the possibility of an extension for an additional year.
