Project Context
You will engage in a dynamic research project focusing on the development of nanotechnology-enhanced electrochemical sensors for sensitive and selective biomarker detection. Collaborating with esteemed laboratories, you will contribute to groundbreaking research at the intersection of engineering, health, and technology.
Role Description
The selected individual will be expected to work full-time on the project, ensuring they have not previously resided or conducted primary activities in Switzerland for more than 12 months within the last 36 months prior to commencement. Enrolment in a structured doctoral program is mandatory, accompanied by active participation in interdisciplinary training and networking events throughout Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering interfaces with redox-active or affinity-based properties, utilizing nanoparticles and synthetic enzymes.
- Integrating these elements into transduction schemes for enhanced sensitivity and selectivity in complex media.
- Conducting validations in controlled in vitro and ex vivo settings to correlate electrochemical signals with biochemical processes.
- Assisting with in vivo testing in animal models and supporting clinical trial activities.

Candidate Profile
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual possessing:
- A Master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- A strong interest in developing translational health technologies.
- Excellent proficiency in both written and spoken English.
- Effective communication skills and a capacity for interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Preferred experience in sensor design, nanoparticle fabrication, or single-atom catalysts.
