Join Our Team as a Pediatric Psychiatrist

As a pediatric psychiatrist, you will play a vital role within the Directorate General of Health, attached to the Office of the Cantonal Doctor (OMC). Your expertise will be essential in providing medical assessments within the Inter-Service Cell (CIS 1) and contributing to the management of pediatric psychiatric cases at the cantonal level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical expertise within the Inter-Service Cell (CIS 1) to propose youth projects and orientations for young individuals in difficulty within post-compulsory education structures.
  • Conduct comprehensive medical, psycho-social evaluations of youth in difficulty and offer medical advice and expertise to orientation network stakeholders regarding physical, mental, and social health.
  • Ensure the quality of services provided by school doctors, particularly concerning mental health issues, and collaborate with the responsible physician for health promotion and prevention within schools.
  • Support and advise school physicians and educational institutions on mental health issues related to children and youth.
  • Respond to requests from school nurses and/or management of compulsory, post-compulsory, and specialized pedagogy institutions concerning mental health.
  • Provide pediatric psychiatric expertise for the Early Support Program and overall mental health cases of children and youth managed by the Directorate General of Health (DGS).
  • Contribute to the implementation of the strategic health promotion and prevention plan for children and youth (PSPEJ) within your area of expertise.
  • Bring in professional expertise by analyzing and advising on mental health projects in line with the PSPEJ.

Qualifications

  • Federal medical degree or equivalent qualification, ideally supplemented by a Master's in Public Health.
  • FMH specialist title in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in pediatric psychiatry.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in the medical follow-up of children and/or adolescents and their families.
  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare and educational system in the Canton of Vaud.
  • Ability to work interdisciplinarily.
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Decisiveness, determination, a sense of responsibility, and a commitment to public service ethics.
  • Strong listening and communication skills, coupled with a collaborative spirit.
  • Good understanding of AI structures and suitable vocational training.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.

Compensation details are available in accordance with the applicable regulations for the remuneration of chief physicians at CHUV.
