The Global Health Engineering group, situated within the esteemed D-MAVT (Mechanical Engineering) department at ETH Zurich, is composed of a diverse team of professionals including mechanical engineers, environmental engineers, economists, and social scientists. Emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach, our research is primarily focused on addressing challenges faced by resource-constrained countries.

Project Background

Contributing to our Open Science team, your involvement will be crucial in streamlining data cleaning and extraction processes, creating insightful visualizations, and curating extensive data publications.

Your Contributions

In this role, you will support various ongoing projects, which include:

  • Updating raw data extraction for a scientific publication.
  • Extracting data from PDF documents to compile metadata for projects funded under the ETH Board Open Research Data (ORD) program.
  • Contributing to data packages produced by the openwashdata community.
  • Assisting in the development of R data publication packages such as washr and fairenough.

Your Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • A passion for creating concise and reusable data and code.
  • Proficiency in standard data science tools such as Git, GitHub, R, Python, RStudio IDE, and VS Code.
  • Experience with R Tidyverse packages and a strong problem-solving aptitude, as outlined in "R for Data Science."
  • A keen interest in the latest developments in Large Language Models (LLMs) and their application within academic settings.

Requirements

To be considered, candidates should hold a BSc degree and possess a valid work permit for Switzerland. Please specify the type of permit you hold (e.g., Swiss passport, work permit).
