About Beyond Gravity

Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, Beyond Gravity is a unique blend of agility, speed, and innovation, merging a start-up mindset with decades of industry expertise and a track record of 100% mission success. Our dynamic team of over 1700 professionals, spread across 13 locations in six countries, is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is technically feasible. We are committed to enhancing life on earth through the products we build for the satellites and launchers industry.

Your Crew

Join the satellite strategic space project team, where you will work with professionals who bring decades of experience to the table. Our international team in Zurich will support you in advancing the vital work for our Digital Twin. This internship offers a unique opportunity to take ownership in shaping solutions that directly influence strategic decisions within the division. You will have the chance to build applications utilized daily within the company and collaborate with external partners, all while developing new skills and pushing your capabilities beyond expectation.

Your Mission

As space systems grow increasingly complex, the demand for accurate and modular simulation environments becomes critical for design, validation, and operations. A Digital Twin provides a powerful method for emulating spacecraft performance, enabling engineers to test algorithms, predict behaviors, and simulate faults without incurring costly hardware expenses.

The objective of this project is to establish a Digital Twin demonstrator for the Multi-Purpose Platform Satellite (MPP) in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). This Digital Twin will replicate selected subsystems to provide essential simulation services and visualization capabilities.

Your work will focus on an interface-driven architecture to ensure modularity and reusability across hardware models and algorithms. Exploration of state-of-the-art visualization tools (Cesium, Grafana) and optionally game engines (Unity, Unreal, Godot) will be included for advanced physics and rendering.

Primary Focus

  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the System Requirements Specification (SRS) and User Requirements for the Digital Twin.
  • Define and document simulation capabilities, including physics-based and subsystem-level simulation behavior.
  • Support the definition of subsystems to be exercised within the Digital Twin.
  • Specify interface requirements.
  • Design Top Level Satellite Architecture.
  • Break down the Digital Twin into components, modules, and elements.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to establish a scalable architecture blueprint.
  • Assist in designing the single source of truth (SSOT).
  • Implement the data layer in Rust (structs, persistence, serialization).

Your Story

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program at a technical university in aerospace engineering or software engineering.
  • English working proficiency; German is a plus.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C/C++ or Rust, along with the ability to implement tests and documentation; knowledge of MatLab and Simulink is advantageous.
  • A solid understanding of satellite orbital mechanics, missions, and systems is beneficial.
  • Exhibit engineering and scientific curiosity, alongside a proactive attitude.
  • Demonstrate independence, teamwork abilities, and effective communication skills.
