This position centers on the innovative design and compliance verification of mass timber and timber-hybrid structures for the United States market, while also supporting European partners venturing into North America.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful individual will possess extensive project and technical experience across all major materials and be well-versed in U.S. building practices, as well as permitting and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed structural designs under the guidance of the principal-in-charge and senior engineers.
- Contribute to medium to large projects through all design and construction phases.
- Manage small to medium-sized projects, ensuring timely delivery across all phases.
- Engage in continuous communication and collaboration with design consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Demonstrate a robust understanding of U.S. codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, NDS, AISC 303, ACI 318, and seismic requirements.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Nurture positive client relationships, aligning with core values.
- Enhance the team’s technical knowledge resources.
- Employ creativity and innovation in problem-solving efforts.
- Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers and BIM technicians.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with over 5 years of local or international building design experience across various sectors.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification, preferably registered in CA, OR, or WA, or eligible for accreditation within 6 months of starting.
- Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as RFEM, S-Concrete, or Sizer.
Additional Assets
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in designing with timber, steel, and concrete.
- Familiarity with seismic analysis and design.
- Experience in commercial, residential, and institutional projects.
- Master’s degree in structural engineering.
- A working knowledge of performance-based design under American codes and standards.

Compensation and Work Environment
- Base Salary: CHF 85,000 – 90,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
- Professional fee coverage and travel allowances.
