Head of Data Governance, Anonymization and Quality

About the Role

Located in Basel, Switzerland, this position offers a hybrid work model with three days in the office each week. The successful candidate will join a leadership team dedicated to enhancing the Data42 platform, which integrates clinical, research, and real-world data to drive advanced analytics and the development of innovative medicines.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement data governance policies and standards to maintain consistency, integrity, and compliance across the organization.
• Collaborate with technology teams to integrate data governance principles into technology solutions.
• Lead the anonymization efforts of patient-level data for compliant secondary research usage.
• Work closely with enterprise data management activities and governance frameworks.
• Shape the data strategy to align with business priorities and regulatory requirements.
• Enhance data governance and data quality practices, driving accountability and measurable outcomes.
• Maintain audit readiness through robust controls and compliance processes.
• Provide leadership and continuity in data governance and oversight activities as Deputy Enterprise Data Officer.

Essential Requirements

• Over 15 years of experience in Data Governance or a related field, with a keen interest in governance and application of AI.
• PhD or MSc in Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience in the life sciences sector with a solid understanding of data-driven research environments.
• Proficient in the application of artificial intelligence in business or scientific settings, with a strong background in data analysis.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in guiding and developing global teams.
• Ability to create and implement enterprise data strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
• Proven capability in driving innovation and integrating new technologies or data-driven methods.
• Strong collaborative skills across organizational boundaries and exceptional communication abilities at senior leadership levels.

Desirable Requirements

• A scientific background is advantageous.
• Interest or experience in cybersecurity related to data security.
• Familiarity with Palantir Foundry.
