Clinical Development Medical Director - Rheumatology

Position Overview

This role within our Immunology Development Unit is dedicated to overseeing the scientific and clinical strategy for assigned clinical trials. The focus will be on scientific monitoring and ensuring the delivery of high-quality data.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and medical strategy for project deliverables, including clinical protocols and regulatory documents.
• Collaborate with global teams and regional medical associates to drive program execution.
• Conduct thorough medical and scientific reviews of trial data, potentially acting as a study medical monitor.
• Ensure molecular safety, supporting safety reporting processes in collaboration with the Patient Safety team.
• Provide essential medical insights for disease area standards and regulatory reviews, fostering partnerships with external and internal stakeholders.
• Facilitate transitions of pre-clinical projects to developmental phases in collaboration with various departments.
• Nurture talent through performance management and mentoring of colleagues.
• Contribute to training for stakeholders related to disease areas and participate in global initiatives for process improvement.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent medical degree; Medical Board certification is preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years of clinical practice experience, including residency.
• Extensive experience in clinical research or drug development, particularly in Phases I through IV.
• Strong knowledge of the assigned therapeutic area and proven success in executing clinical trials with global reach.
• Exceptional understanding of GCP, trial design, and regulatory processes.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate scientific partnerships and manage teams effectively.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
