Opportunity Overview

This role presents an exciting chance to be part of a scientifically advanced and resource-efficient biotech company at a critical stage of growth. The position will involve serving as a senior clinical leader, tasked with the design and implementation of a multi-indication clinical development strategy focusing on RAS/eIF4A/translation-pathway inhibition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate and deliver key directives from the board and senior management, representing the clinical perspective of the company.
  • Lead and manage all clinical development activities within the SJP portfolio.
  • Design Phase 2 and 3 clinical protocols and oversee CTA/IND submissions to BfArM, FDA, and EMA.
  • Develop and implement biomarker-driven patient selection strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with leading academic and clinical sites across Germany, the EU, and the US.
  • Oversee Investigator Initiated Trials and partnerships, providing necessary scientific leadership.
  • Lead regulatory strategy, developing approaches for Fast Track Designation, Breakthrough Therapy Designation, and accelerated approval pathways.
  • Support pharmaceutical partnering activities, preparing clinical data packages and responding to due diligence inquiries.
  • Build and expand the clinical development and operations team, including recruitment of CRAs, medical monitors, and data management staff.
  • Present clinical data at major oncology congresses and to key opinion leaders.
  • Engage with potential investors and financial institutions to secure necessary capital.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • MD with a specialization in medical oncology and hematology.
  • 10+ years of experience in oncology clinical development within pharma, biotech, or CRO environments with substantial clinical trial leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of successful IND/CTA submissions.
  • Leadership experience in interactions with regulatory bodies such as the FDA and/or EMA.
  • Experience in biomarker-driven trial design and companion diagnostics development.
  • In-depth knowledge of breast cancer, NSCLC, and KRAS-mutant tumor biology.
  • Strong comprehension of the competitive landscape in clinical oncology treatments.
  • Proven capability in managing investigator-initiated trials and academic partnerships.
  • Established record of scientific publications and/or presentations at oncology congresses.
  • Exceptional presentation skills.
  • Ability to emphasize teamwork and lead a team of field experts.

Highly Desired Qualifications (But Not Required)

  • Experience with RAS/KRAS biology, MAPK pathway inhibitors, or translation-pathway therapeutics.
  • PhD in a relevant area of cancer biology.
  • Experience in basket trial design and multi-cohort oncology studies.
  • Background in immuno-oncology combinations, especially relating to checkpoint inhibitor resistance settings.
  • Prior involvement in pharma partnering or licensing due diligence from a biotech perspective.
  • Working knowledge of German regulatory frameworks alongside international GCP/ICH guidelines.
  • Established professional network within leading cancer centers.
